Woodstock Pantry News Brief November 25th

Woodstock Pantry E News Brief

This weekend, we closed our drive-through service. And we held the Thanksgiving Community Share event for our unhoused neighbors. We served 87 people. We had anecdotal evidence that we serve a high number of unhoused people. This weekend, we finally gathered real data. It’s remarkable and humbling that so many of our most unfortunate neighbors choose our services.
Thanksgiving Community Share
In addition to the pantry, All Saints offers Hot Meals, hygiene products, hats/scarves, Seed and clothing. We also partner with Cultivate Initiatives, which provides showers, laundry, clothing and medical services.
This year, we worked collaboratively to create a community space and experience for our neighbors, almost all of whom are unhoused. While our neighbors ate their Hot Meals, we set up tables in the Parish Hall, i.e., dining room. We then invited our neighbors to walk through and select items they desired.
Hot Meals – New Volunteer Opportunity!
The All Saints Hot Meals program served our neighbors indoors for 38 years until the pandemic necessitated that we serve to-go meals outside. During the pandemic, Woodstock Pantry, Hygiene, Clothing Closet and Cultivate Initiatives were opened. Now, All Saints is transforming them into sustainable programs, and we are preparing to bring Hot Meals back indoors!
So, we are redesigning the way we provide services. In Phase I of our experiment, we will create a one-stop-shopping experience. While our neighbors dine, they will order hygiene and clothing items. We will fill the orders and store the packages for people to collect after they finish their meal.
