Weekly Rector's Note: Discussion with Rev. Leroy Barber this Sunday

Dear Saints,

These last few weeks I have had the opportunity to share about the neighborhood Juneteenth celebration that we are planning with The Voices Project. I can’t tell you how energizing these conversations have been. People are excited about the chance to encourage racial diversity, equity, and allyship in our neighborhood. Already we have had donations from community partners who are on board.

I hope you will join me this Sunday at 11:30 to hear from Rev. Leroy Barber on our next steps in the Juneteenth celebration planning process. By coming you are not committing to anything. It’s simply an informational overview of what this endeavor entails. I also highly encourage participating because part of the planning is actually formation on allyship and practical ways we encourage Beloved Community in our own spheres of influence.

This Sunday you’ll also have a chance to see the new installation of the Stations of the Cross. It’s a stunningly unique take, using natural elements and sound to create an immersive, prayerful experience of Christ’s Passion. We are going to have a few times to walk through the Stations with a prayer booklet and meditations from our artist in residence, Paige Lehman. One of those will be on Good Friday from Noon to 1pm.

Lastly, if you didn’t get to join us last week for our discussion of Dream of God: A Call to Return, you are still welcome to join us this week. The conversation was excellent and you don’t have to read to book to come. The Wednesday Eucharist, lunch, and discussion was well attended and a welcome midweek refreshment for participants. Please join us for either opportunity as you are available.

I’m looking forward to more opportunities for rich and meaningful discussion and worship together in Lent.

In peace,

Andria+
