Water for Gaza

Most of us in the Pacific Northwest are able to turn on our water tap to receive clean, safe water for consumption and bathing. This is not true in many places throughout the world. The Center for Disease Control considers access to safe drinking water a human right, not a privilege, for every man, woman, and child to have access to clean water and sanitation services.

On November 16th, on ZOOM, from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm Pacific, Zeiad Abbas Shamrouch, the Executive Director of MECA (Middle East Children’s Alliance) will present a program on Water for Gaza. Zeiad is a Palestinian refugee from Dheisheh Refugee Camp which lies outside Bethlehem on the West Bank. He is the co-founder of the Ibdaa, the Cultural Center in Dheisheh, a filmmaker, journalist and educator who worked with Palestinian and international media on the production of several documentary films. He co-produced and managed production of Promises, a 2002 Academy Award nominated film.

On November 16th, Mr. Shamrouch will share a short video and PowerPoint in his presentation demonstrating how Israel's water policies have impacted Palestinian's health, land, and livelihood and how the lack of access to water poses a threat for the upcoming generation of Palestinian children. In addition, he will talk about what people can do and how they can support children’s access to water in Gaza, including additional information about the Maia Project. The Rev. Dr. Canon Richard Toll and The Rev. Dr. Constance Hammond will share observations from their experiences in Gaza.

REGISTER HERE, to join the ZOOMINAR conversation and learn what you can do to support children's access to water in Gaza, November 16, 7:00-8:30 pm Pacific.

Presented by the Task Force for Palestinian Human Rights, Episcopal Diocese of Oregon
