Rector's Note: Preparing for Holy Week & Easter

Dear Saints,

One of my favorite memories from last year was our family’s celebration of Maundy Thursday. On that night, we ordered a special take-out feast and said the Agape Meal prayers (or what we could get in with a small child at the table). Then, after the dinner, we did a footwashing on the deck before worshipping with the online service. It wasn’t the Maundy Thursday I would’ve planned were it not for the pandemic, but it was beautiful. It made me realize how powerful gathering around Jesus’ story with others is, no matter where or how it takes place.

This Holy Week and Easter, as we try something new in our hybrid services, it’s going to be different than what we may have planned in other circumstances. But what strikes me most this year is that it is a privilege to get to gather around these stories with you. Whether in person or online, whether at home or in the church, whether with a big crowd as in years past, or just a few people, the power is in participating in Christ's story together in a way that makes Christ alive in us.

Also, I'm so excited to share we have a new modern rendition of Stations of the Cross by a guest artist. You are invited to come and pray through them Tuesday and Thursday any time from Noon to 1pm during which time we will have contemplative music in the Nave, or before or after the Holy Week and Easter services.
