Rector's Note: Growing a Secure Spiritual Attachment to God

Dear All Saints Community,

This Sunday I am so excited to welcome author Krispin Mayfield whose book Attached to God recently came out. Krispin will preach at 8:00am and 10:15am and do a Q&A Forum at 9:00am in the Parish Hall (childcare available). Krispin’s work explores what attachment science has to teach us about our relationships with ourselves, families, partners, neighbors, and God. You can check out his website and podcast here. We will have copies of his book available for purchase on Sunday.

A WEEK FROM SUNDAY

Don’t forget to buy your raffle and event tickets this Sunday for the Mustard Seed fundraiser on May 15 after the 10:15 service. Buy and extra ticket or two and invite friends. There’s going to be fabulous food and auction items (including a coastal getaway!). The program is also going to be great fun.

HONORING THOSE WHO DIED WHILE LIVING ON THE STREETS

I wanted to let you know about the death of one of our houseless neighbors, a man name Mikey who lived in one of the tents on 41st across the street from the church. On Wednesday, parishioners, neighbors, and friends of Mikey gathered to remember him and pray for those affected by homelessness in our city.

Please pray for Mikey’s family. He is survived by his father and two children (5 and 6). Please pray for our city, that we improve the way we support those who suffer from chronic mental illness and housing insecurity.

If you would like to get more involved in this area, the All Saints Sacred Organizing group is working specifically on housing insecurity. We also are setting up a designated fund to help fill in the gaps for our houseless neighbors as they transition into supportive housing. If you would like to make a donation, please put “housing insecurity” in the memo. It’s amazing how little things, like a new tire or a prescription payment, can make all the difference in stabilizing someone’s situation.

May Mikey’s memory stir in us a greater compassion for those who are still experiencing houselessness and increase our resolve to end houselessness in our city.
