Meet Alex Firman

Hello All Saints, my name is Alex Firman and I’m a seminary student in Oxford, England. I grew up in the East of England in a pretty rural area before going to college in Wales to study politics. After three years of college, I decided the logical step from a politics degree was to start working in conservation and organic farming. Over the past ten years I’ve worked with a non-profit in Manchester, England teaching people about local sustainable food growing and helping to develop new urban farms. More recently I’ve been working for non-profit in the South-West of England that grew out of a Pentecostal church using food growing to engage as outreach to homeless and rehabilitating people in more rural, isolated areas.

Through farming, I met my wife Bailey who is originally from Portland, and we have family living in Welches. We’ve been married for six years, and we now have a five-month-old daughter Zoe. This will be Zoe’s first time meeting the American side of her family! Bailey and I both enjoy growing food (obviously), hiking and baking. I’m also a history nerd and through Bailey I’ve become really interested in early U.S. history.

As part of my seminary training, I participate in the life and worship of a church, and I’m really excited join All Saints. Bailey and I have joined worship when we’ve been back on family visits and we’ve really enjoyed being able to join in the online life of All Saints during Covid. It will be great to be part of the life of the church and learn from you all.
