Weekly Note: Lent and Concert for the Human Family | All Saints Episcopal Church

This Sunday we observe the first Sunday in Lent with solemn, contemplative services that offer opportunity for reflection and self examination. We will pray The Great Litany at both services, chanting it at the 10:15am service.

The Great Litany is an intercessory prayer that dates back to the 5th century. Its use in church processions was ordered by Henry VIII when England was at war with Scotland and France. Because of its penitential tone, we continue to use an updated version of it on the first Sunday of Lent.

It's not too late to join the Immerse Bible reading group or the participate in the Wednesday Noon Eucharists and Boundless Compassion study (details below).

And don't forget to get your tickets for the Concert for the Human Family a week from today. Put on by Presiding Bishop Michael Curry's office, this genre-crossing musical event bridges jazz, hip-hop, rock, bluegrass, and storytelling, featuring a piano virtuoso and a celebrated hip-hop artist. Holy Communion, Rite II Service, held in the Sanctuary, includes a Sermon, Readings, and Hymns. You can participate In-Person or in the Live Premiere on our Facebook page or watch on our website.
