Kick Off Updates & Labor Day Prayers

The Fall Kick Off is right around the corner! On Sunday, September 10, the choir will be back, we will launch our new Kids Connect (see below), and we will celebrate with hot dogs, refreshments and highlighting our Outreach programs as part of Woodstock Gives Back.

Since part of Woodstock Gives Back is having an activity that will draw in neighbors, and since we are all about the ministry of feeding, we are going to have a station where people can start their winter garden by preparing seed starts. I could use some helpers on the day of and/or gardeners who can help me decide on the best materials. Please let me know if you are interested. And thank you to people who have already signed up to help with the Kick Off and/or to be helpers in Kids Connect!

I’d also like to give a huge thanks to our Jr. Warden, Sonja, for overseeing several major building projects this week. The most exciting one you can see at the entrance of All Saints if you look up.

Lastly, with Labor Day is this Monday, it’s a good time to be mindful of each other’s work and allowing space for rest. We can do that in our Sunday gatherings as we collectively hold it as sabbath time and rest in God’s love together. Below are some prayers to offer this Labor Day weekend.

In peace,

Andria+

Creator Lord, the source of all wisdom and purpose, and the blessing of those who labor; be with us in our work to guide and govern our world. Give to all people work that enhances human dignity and bonds us to one another. Give us pride in our work, a fair return for our labor, and joy in knowing that our work finds its source in you; through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Almighty God, whose Son Jesus Christ in his earthly life shared our toil and hallowed our labor: Be present with your people where they work; make those who carry on the industries and commerce of his land responsive to your will; and give to us all a pride in what we do, and a just return for our labor; through Jesus Chris tour Lord, who lives and reigns with you , in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen. (Book of Common Prayer, pg. 259)

Almighty God, you have so linked our lives one with another that all we do affects, for good or ill, all other lives: So guide us in the work we do, that we may do it not for self alone, but for the common good; and, as we seek a proper return for our own labor, make us mindful of the rightful aspirations of other workers, and arouse our concern for those who are out of work; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. (Book of Common Prayer, pg. 261)
