Holy Week Begins | All Saints Episcopal Church

Dear Saints,

Our Lenten observance is coming to an end, and Holy Week is nearly upon us! During this time, the central drama of the Christian faith is remembered, retold, and replayed in liturgy as it has been for centuries. It is a time that we pray the liturgies with our senses fully engaged, enter into the stories and find deeper meaning and transformation. As my liturgy mentor once said, the rest of the liturgical year hangs upon everything we do in this week.

This Sunday, we celebrate Palm Sunday: Sunday of the Passion. Wednesday we will pray the traditional Stations of the Cross. On Thursday, we will share in a communal meal with Communion, followed by a contemplative service in the church. Good Friday is a solemn service with chanting and the Veneration of the Cross. The Great Vigil is a service in which we recount Salvation History through dramatic readings, song, the lighting of the new fire and the first celebration of Easter.

You all are in my prayers as we enter this sacred time together.

Our 8:00 A.M. Holy Communion, Rite 1 Service, held in the Chapel, is our most traditional service. All are welcome. Our 10:15 A.M. Holy Communion, Rite II Service, held in the Sanctuary, includes a Sermon, Readings, and Hymns. You can participate In-Person or in the Live Premiere on our Facebook page or watch on our website.
